Of the 68 influenza-related pediatric deaths*
last season, 58 were children who had not been
vaccinated against influenza according to CDC
recommendations.
This year, to help address these avoidable fatalities, new guidelines from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that all children aged
6 months through 18 years get vaccinated against influenza. This fall, PTA is asking you
to Educate, Motivate, and Vaccinate, in order to:
Help keep children in school
Help parents to stay at work
Help save lives!
PTA is partnering with Flu Busters, a leading provider of on-site vaccinations,
and Novartis Vaccines to launch an exclusive program called Let’s Fight Flu Together!
The program provides local schools with educational materials and resources to conduct on-site school influenza (flu)
vaccination clinics to help protect children and their families from contracting this potentially deadly virus.
Your Participation Can Make a Difference!
Influenza and its complications remain a critical public health issue. Every year:
- More than 200,000 people are hospitalized, 20,000 of whom are children
- Approximately 36,000 United States residents die
- An estimated 38 million school days are missed by students
- Parents miss over 10 million work days caring for these sick youngster
The single best way to prevent influenza is to get an influenza vaccination each year.
Benefit Your PTA!
A large portion of the flu vaccination price will be given back to PTA.
